This is a list of products we love and wouldn’t travel without. This list does not only include sailing gear, but also household items and electronics. Many of them we owned for a long time now, others just moved in with us recently.
Some of the links for the products below are affiliate links, if you click and purchase something, it costs you nothing extra and we get a few cents too. Thanks for your support!
Inreach

Garmin inReach SE Satellite Tracker, previously DeLorme
We had this tracker for years now! It’s fairly inexpensive, you can deactivate the subscripotion anytime, and it is just great to have to keep the family at home calm and follow along live on the map.
RASPBERRY PI

Raspberry Pi 4 8GB
We build ourselves a little on-board navigation computer with a RaspberryPi running OpenCPN and a monitor mounted in the nav station. It’s been great to just have it running in a more permanent and economical fashion than a laptop.
Milk Frother

Bialetti Tutto Crema Milk Frother
I love lattes and would not leave the house without my milk frother! This one is hands down the best, the foam comes out fantastic.
IRIDIUM GO

Iridium GO! Satellite Phone Wi-Fi Hotspot for Voice, Messaging & Data with Prepaid Unlimited Plan
On the way west across the atlantic we only had a pay-per-minute satellite phone. On the way back east however, we got the IridiumGo. While it’s pretty clunky to use, nothing beats the unlimited plan! Unless of course you are Elon… stay tuned we have starlink on order!
HONDA 2K

Honda EU2200i 2200-Watt 120-Volt Portable Generator
We didn’t have a huge battery bank on the previous trip and we were notoriously out of power. This portable generator was a lifesaver! Although we aren’t big fans of carrying the extra pertol on board and are looking to replace it with a proper diesel genset some day.
Tohatsu

Tohatsu M9.8BS, 9.8HP 2-Stroke Outboard
Our previous dinghy Stevie broke down in the Caribbean and we had to find a new one quick. We met a guy who also wanted to sell his engine along with the dighy. We ended up taking both, and while the Tohatsu is pretty heavy, it is a really great ride.
Tefal Ingenio
Tefal Ingenio Stainless Set with Detachable Handle
Cookware with detachable handles, takes very little space and works on induction!
Luci Light
MPOWERD Luci Outdoor 2.0: Solar Inflatable Light
Leightweight, solar chargeable, waterproof, LED lamp. It’s so versatile, it’s been great to have around – we own a few of them by now.
Food Huggers
Food Huggers Reusable Silicone Food Savers
I don’t even remember where I stumbled on those little thinggies – they are amazing!
Moka
Bialetti Moka Induction, Stovetop Coffee Maker
The perfect espresso maker for underway! We have a variety of them in all kinds of different sizes.
Omnia
Omnia Stovetop Oven
Back on the last trip we did not have an oven, so we used the Omnia to bake cakes and bread on the stovetop – it worked great! It didn’t do so well for anything gratinated, so we are getting an oven this time around.
Vyacht
vyacht WiFi NMEA2000/0183/Seatalk Router
When we started upgrading Mateńka with newer boat electronics, we needed something to bridge the gap between our older NMEA0183 and the newer NMEA2k equipment. With vyacht you get everything onto a local Wifi network as well, and are able to follow your telemetry along on phones, tables, etc.
Garhauer
Marine Hardware, Equipment and Accessories
Mateńka was originally fitted with Lewmar deck hardware, but after 30 years in use, things started to break. We are successively replacing our blocks and other hardware with Garhauer equipment, which has been fantastic so far!
Wifi booster
Ubiquiti Bullet M2 2.4GHz + 180deg V-LineSektor 15 Antenna
Marina wifi sucks, especially when you are far away from the office, as guest pontoons tend to be. With this setup we boost the wifi signal and funnel it into our local wifi as uplink. It also works on anchor when you have line of sight to the closes bar with wifi.
GoPro
GoPro Hero5 Black — Waterproof Digital Action Camera for Travel with Touch Screen 4K HD Video 12MP Photos
Our GoPro is a little dated by now, but not to miss on a trip!
